The Wanderwell expedition was the way for a 16 year old Aloha Wanderwell to see the world, and be the first woman around the globe by car, and her 35mm home films and documents are ready to be made into a Hollywood feature film

What’s blonde, blue-eyed, six-feet tall and looks like a leading actress? She’s Aloha Wanderwell – the first woman to travel around the globe in a car; she was 16. And, AlohaWanderwell.com is dedicated to preserving her nitrate films, books and more.

It all started when Aloha read an ad in the Riviera edition of the Paris Herald: “Brains, Beauty and Breeches – World tour offer for lucky young woman wanted to join an expedition – Asia, Africa….”

She quickly set out to convince the expedition’s leader, Captain Walter Wanderwell, that she was the one for the job.

“This true story of an incredible journey – the Wanderwell Expedition – took place in the 1920s. Over the years, it’s been buried and now needs to be preserved and retold,” says Richard Diamond, Aloha’s grandson.

During this world tour, Aloha took thousands of feet of 35-millimeter nitrate film while driving though 43 countries on four continents in nearly eight years.



“These nitrate films have to be transferred to HD,” says Diamond. “We need help now. This is a gold mine of material for any documentary or film producer. It would be a crime to let these historical films deteriorate. It’s a rich part of history.”

In addition, Diamond also possesses a 567-page manuscript written by Aloha that details the trip’s many adventures; an array of collectibles; photos; and the original auto badges.

During the expedition, Aloha and Walter married. They continued to travel, to film and lecture together. In 1932, their story tragically ended with Walter’s murder; it remains an unsolved cold case.

Aloha remarried and tended to her priceless collection of films, photos, journals and artifacts. Much of her work has been preserved in museums and educational institutions throughout the U.S. She passed away in Newport Beach, California on June 4, 1996.

“In addition to preserving these items, I believe that Ford has an amazing opportunity here,” says Diamond. “Just imagine a modern-day Aloha retracing these steps in a Ford Explorer? It would be a wonderful way to pay homage to the very first ‘Ford Challenge’ – the intrepid 1918 Model T that Aloha referred to as her, ‘Little Lizzie.’”

So, while the Model T that brought this couple together was not preserved, the story certainly can be.

the movie "Real Steel" is awesome, and has a cool International Harvester COE Sightliner as Hugh Jackman's mobile home/robot hauler... it's frickin cool

I hope they make a sequel... it is a no brainer in my opinion that this story line of a young kid and his absentee dad reuniting and getting a robot to win the world championship, is the newest in a line of Rocky, The Champ, Karate Kid  type feel good action movies... To let it go withough a great sequel of them continuing to be partners in the robot games, and further learning that the dad character has a lot to experience from his kids point of view .. that would be a shame

Had puberty at 8, and was a target of male hormones the rest of her life, silent film star Harold Lloyd didn't know she was only 13 when he was photographing her nude, and told her she was a natural beauty that would make it in Hollywood films.

For a fun 1980's street racing movie about a high schooler with a blown 350 Chevelle and a need to raise money betting on his wining the races, watch "Catch Me If You Can" on youtube, because it's no where else

 The movie starts with the guy racing a 73 Duster,  

 Then having to try his Chevelle against local senior talent, the Sandman. The Sandman was played by an incredibly long working guy, Bob Minor, who has been doing movie and tv stunts and stunt coordinator work since 1970. He's worked in lots of the blaxploitation movies, and Starsky and Hutch, Kojak, Magnum PI, Boyz in the Hood, Die Hard 4, Conspiracy Theory, Oceans 11, The Italian Job and many more. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0591567/

 The Sandman couldn't make the curve when the cops started chasing the streetracers, and wiped out

 then the guy has several races against some cool cars, and keeps winning.

And with his confidence at an all time high, he then takes a high stakes bet with the local gangster loan shark, the Fatman, that he can beat the gangters driver, the rotton crook gangster fixes the race with a ringer who destroys the Chevelle, and the high schooler loses his mony.

in a desperate attempt to win double or nothing, the kid bets he can beat the local street racing legend "Fast Freddy" 's historically famous high speed run from Minneapolis to St Paul. Surpise polt twist, the kids High School Principl was Fast Freddy, and the 57 Chev that made that race is buried under the football field, ready to get vengeance against the gangster

The high school auto shop class gets the 57 Chev race ready, and pulls off the first water soluble paint job in a movie I ever saw. Also the first example of the one car gets chased into a building by cops, but lots of identical cars leave, and the cops can't track the right car... trick. Mix them together and a red car goes in but leaves a car wash blue with a flamejob, among a dozen other cars or various colors

This movie is fun, but never going to get put on DVD, there just isn't a demand for 1980's high school action street racing movies. The VHS is so rare, the one guy who has them on Amazon, wants $170 dollars.

I hate price gougers, so I'm telling all of you you can watch it free on You Tube. The quality isn't sharp, but neither was 1980's tv and movie resolution.
